Love's Last Betrayal
Book Excerpt
Walking into her bedroom, Jocelyn Madison flopped down across her gigantic Victorian four-poster bed, pressing hard into the down-filled comforter that lay beneath her creamy soft skin. The morning sun streamed in through the open balcony doors throwing its soft glow across Jocelyn's long angular figure.
Today she searched to find the solace she so desperately needed in the still silence of her room. To gain the fresh perspective on her life that now lay broken and endlessly exposed for all to see.
With a heavy sigh, Jocelyn reached out and pulled her favorite album off her bedside table, spreading it out in front of her. Immediately upon opening it she saw the all too familiar face that haunted her dreams and filled her mind with thoughts of the past.
Seeing Alex again brought a lump to her throat. As she flipped through the pages full of photos of the two of them bittersweet memories of the past clung to her heart. She loved him so much. So much more than she ever thought possible for one human being to love another.
Sometimes it was all still so hard for her to bear. Back in the clouded recesses of her mind, she saw him as he used to be. Tears stung her eyes as she laid across her bed fully immersed in his memory. She could still smell his scent. Sometimes it was as if he still looked upon her. As if his eyes still bore into hers the way they had the last time she said good-bye. Now he was forever gone from her life. Wiped out without so much as a warning...
