Fundraising

Through the moving way she relates her past experiences with the audience at a banquet or gets out there and puts her past marketing experience to work, Karen has many ways of getting the job done. Other than banquet speaking she is able to use her book in benefit book signings to bring in donations (both monetary and clothing) to keep the center she‘s raising funds for well stocked.

Karen has about ten years experience in the field of ministry, getting out in the trenches and rolling up her sleeves to personally work with women in all aspects of their lives. As you can see by the list below, Karen‘s experience has been spent on professional training, personal care and administrative work in the non-for-profit arena.

1997 - Began speaking to various women’s groups in Erie, Pa on healing, co-dependence and family of origin issues through my business (a day spa) that I also ministered to women on a physical level (self-esteem).

1998 - Spent the year studying with Life Skills International’s facilitator in the area of relationship psychology. Also worked on writing my first manuscript (first version of Shattered Dreams) and prepared it for publishing.

1999 - Continued training in the second level of Life Skills. Worked with every non-profit organization in town (too many to count) in bringing awareness to their causes through newspaper advertising, setting up and sponsoring events (golf outings, auctions, dances, dinners, etc.) and telephone fundraising.

1999/2000 - Spent the year handling all aspects of setting up a 501C3 for a new non-for-profit company. At the same time, I worked for the NYT’s Sarasota Herald-Tribune, spending lunchtime with the public speaking group, Toastmasters.

2001/2002 - Tarrant Area Community of Churches - Ft. Worth, Texas

I volunteered for Americorps for one year through the Family Pathfinders program helping single parent women in distress get a “hand up not a hand out.” As part of my service in Texas, I spoke weekly to different churches in the Ft. Worth area gathering up teams of volunteers to walk with these women for a period of one year to learn how to sustain healthy, successful, living patterns for themselves.

2003 - I spent this year writing, editing and publishing The Christmas Wish.

2004/2006 - I spent this time writing, editing and publishing my next two books, mentored children of single parent families. Continued training in client services and helped out weekly with homeless through Sisters Serving Christ and the Salvation Army.

2007 - Officially began New Life Visions Women’s Ministries, built this website and began notifying pregnancy center directors on a nationwide level. Full-time church leader/teacher/mentor to women age 20-40 in crisis where they learn about biblical principles to healing and a closer relationship with Christ. Working on Shattered Dreams & The Other Side of Addiction to be out in 2008
