Pay Attention to that Still Small Voice...
Pay attention to that still small voice and you might just learn something!
It still never ceases to amaze me how many times I’ve heard from women of varying ages and walks of life say in hindsight they’d wished they’d listened to their intuition. That “gut” feeling or “female instinct” that instantly warned them right at the moment of decision that something just wasn’t right with the choice they were about to make, but chose to ignore their feeling only to discover later on they should’ve listened, is astounding.
My friend, that instant “female intuition” you feel kicking in when you’re up against trouble as a believer is the whispering of the Holy Spirit trying to protect you from future consequences if the wrong choice is made. I know as well as a lot of you do, that it’s so easy to ignore. To stifle that still small voice while you walk head on into trouble and future heartache for yourself.
Personally, I can remember several times in my own life where that voice called out to me, even yelled out the truth and I answered back with Shhhhh….it’s ok, I can handle it on my own only to be proven wrong later on. That is not a fun place to be. It is so much better to allow God to lead and you follow than the other way around. Especially when it comes to your love life.
We all think we know what’s best for us, but do we really? If we did then how come everyone knows about the adage hindsight is 20/20? Because we just don’t listen to our first response. We all seem to listen to our emotions instead. In Cor. 8:13 it says that the heart is deceitful above all things who can know it. It’s also the place where all of the issues of life come from including unnecessary pain and suffering from not taking heed to His guiding hand.
Instead of charging forward with what we believe is the right choice through our own logic and reasoning abilities, take a moment to do a “gut check” and see what God is trying to tell you. If you listen, even if it means having to walk away from the thing you’re being warned about, then God will bless you with a more peaceful emotionally protected life. You won’t find yourself having to deal with the fallout of a broken relationship if you are feeling like the man you’re with isn’t right for you. Maybe He’s warning you to avoid a certain friend or a certain situation. Whatever it is God’s Spirit is only trying to help guide you into happiness instead of the opposite.
So, from now on, think about God’s still small voice as a safety net the next time you are standing at the precipice of life about to jump into the dark abyss. Take the net and don’t look back. Learn to never look back or second guess God. He is the only One, other than ourselves, that has your best interest in mind. Let Him be your guide and you can never go wrong!
